But just a couple of years off her 50th birthday, Monica Bellucci is now being cast to play mother - even if she couldn't look any less like a family matriarch if she tried.

The Italian model is part of Dolce and Gabbana's latest advertising campaign to promote the fashion house's spring 2012 collection.And she is surrounded by members of her Italian family as she shows off her hourglass figure in three black laces dresses.

But despite being shot next to Italian model Bianca Balti who at 27 is 20 years her junior, Monica looked more like her older sister than a mother figure.

In one scene, Monica sits on some steps with her arm around two young lads as Bianca poses in front of one of them.

In another, she stands on some steps outside a church in a typical Italian family scene with several generations represented.

And in the third shot, Monica sits by a port with the family behind her, looking very Carmen-esque in her off-the-shoulder dress.

The campaign was shot a couple of months ago in the southern Italian town of Portofino and was captured by photographer Giampaolo Sgura.

It was directed by Dolce Domineco himself, one half of the fashionable duo who founded the label back in 1985.

Monica is married to French actor Vincent Cassel with whom she has two daughters, Deva, seven, and one-year-old Léoni.

It was the jewel in the crown of Russian czars - the symbol of cultural glory during imperial times. The Bolshoi Theatre, which was restored to its former glory at an estimated cost of over $ 1 billion - the most expensive theatre reconstruction project ever - reopened after six scandal plagued years on Friday.

The "by invitation only" audience included Russian President Dmitry Medvedev (seated in a gold-lined box where czars and Soviet leaders sat for performances), former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, Italian actress Monica Bellucci, besides a host of ministers, top businessmen and celebrities.For lesser mortals who were not granted the privilege of receiving any of the 1,740 invitations sent out by the Kremlin, the event was broadcast live across the world on TV and YouTube.

At the Venice Film Festival last month, I chanced upon the Italian actress Monica Bellucci being interviewed by an earnest eastern European journalist, and discreetly eavesdropped on their conversation. "How does it feel to be so adored?" he gushed. "In my country you are worshipped like a goddess."

One might imagine it hard to frame a suitable reply, but Bellucci, calm and composed, answered him with commendable grace - while noticeably shifting the subject from her status as an object of desire and towards her profession as a working actress: "Thank you!" she said with a dazzling smile. "It's good to be loved in a country that's not yours. It's surprising when you go to Russia or Istanbul or Brazil and people have seen your movies - and interesting to speak with people who come from other cultures."This was a deft handling of the situation, because, of course, the subtext in his question was all about her remarkable good looks. Bellucci is a renowned screen beauty; she knows it and the journalist knew it. But she's also a serious actress with a career going back 20 years, and prefers being regarded as such, rather than as a celebrity icon, sighed over longingly by fans.

A few minutes later, it is my turn to quiz her, and I find myself sitting opposite her, reflecting on the distracting effect of beauty. For the record, she looks stunning. Bellucci, 47, has olive skin, large doe-like eyes and long, lustrous dark hair, and is wearing a modified version of a man's black three-piece suit. In person, she has a quality best described as imposing.

Her new film, That Summer (Un été brûlant in its original French title), was screened at the festival the day before we meet, and its opening scene is the talk of Venice. In it, a nude Bellucci reclines on a bed, perfectly still, but gazing into the camera's lens. Her eyes have a come-hither look and at one point she extends an arm as if to beckon a lover. As it turns out, this image, which resembles the re-creation of a painting, is preying on the mind of her troubled younger partner (played by Louis Garrel), from whom she has separated.

Was it a hard scene to play? She looks amused: "No, it was not hard to be lying down in bed." Still, the controversy perplexes her: "Everyone here is talking about this scene, and yet there's a David Cronenberg film here with so many sexy scenes involving a 25-year-old girl [she means Keira Knightley] and no one says anything about it. Instead, everybody talks about this short moment, of my nudity in a scene where nothing happened. It created such a big thing. And I'm 47. So I wonder why?"

Her question is slightly disingenuous. Bellucci has an undeniably sensual screen presence, and she is firmly within the tradition of sultry Italian screen actresses like Sophia Loren, Claudia Cardinale and Gina Lollobrigida - earthy, womanly and voluptuous, with a fiery allure. Yet her memory of shooting it has a different, surprising dimension. "I think it's a beautiful, poetic scene, and this was a special moment in my life. My femininity was so fragile, because I'd had a baby only a month and half before, and I was breast-feeding on set. In real life I was breast-feeding every two hours, night and day, yet on the set I was playing someone really the opposite - a selfish woman who just wants to change men all the time. So I'm very proud of that scene."

“I would love to come to India for a holiday. It is such a lively country. I have heard such good things about its festivals; its rich culture and its delicious food and I would specially like to come down to see the beautiful and the much talked about Taj Mahal,” says Bellucci.

The 47-year-old actor says she’s too caught up with international projects at the moment to consider anything else. “I am packed with many Hollywood projects right now, but I would be keen to give it (Bollywood) a shot only if the script appeals to me,” she says.
Unlike several of her Hollywood co-stars, including actor Keanu Reeves whom she worked with in the hit franchise The Matrix, Bellucci knows no Bollywood names to drop. “I haven’t met any indian actors till now, but I have heard about a few,” she says.

In fact, the actor confesses that she hasn’t even watched a Bollywood movie either. But, adds that she’s heard a lot about them. “I’ve heard you have many songs and dances in the movies. I would like to watch a good Bollywood movie with subtitles.”

Bellucci’s latest film, The Whistleblower, hit theatres last week, and the actor’s performance in the film has been critically acclaimed. “It’s an important and powerful and moving story that needed to be told,” says the actor, adding she’s proud of being a part of such a film.

The film also stars actor Rachel Weiz, but Bellucci says there were no prima donna problems on the set between the two.

“It (the atmosphere) was very nice and I was thrilled to work with her, She is a very kind and good souled lady. So, yes, I had a great time working with Rachel,” she says.

Sydney, Sept 26 (ANI): Monica Bellucci, who went nude in her film 'That Summer' just a month after she had given birth to her second child, has revealed that she finds nudity 'beautiful' as it is anti-fashion.

"Actually, I think it's beautiful because it's anti-fashion, this nudity," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted her as saying.

"'It's very round, it's as if women are scared today of this kind of body. The beauty of youth finishes and then another kind of beauty comes. "I make a lot of children and breastfeeding changes all the body systems. I was playing someone dangerously sexy and at the same time I was breastfeeding every two hours, so it was funny.

''I really want to know why yesterday when in the Cronenberg movie [A Dangerous Method] with Keira Knightley, there were such strong, sexy scenes with a 25-year-old girl - and everybody talked about this nudity with a 47-year-old woman instead! It is so sexy what she does, why nobody said anything. She is tied up and spanked!''

Bellucci doesn't need to be onscreen long to make an impression, as was the case with her gold-encrusted, scantily clad Cleopatra in the 2002 French box-office smash Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra. She exuded a similarly regal presence as Persephone in the Matrix sequels and played a ravishing queen in The Brothers Grimm, for which she didn't mind being presented literally warts and all. For her starring role in the award-winning Malena she was unafraid to bare it all. Even when her career was thriving, Bellucci, who resides in Paris, Rome and London, took time off after giving birth to daughter, Deva (now seven). She ensured both her children were born in Italy.

''I am so attached to my country,'' she says. ''Once in a while I make Italian movies and at the same time it's great to make French and American movies.''

Bellucci appeared alongside Nicolas Cage in 2010's The Sorcerer's Apprentice and was four months pregnant with Leonie when she played a small part in new film The Whistleblower, a true story that stars Rachel Weisz as Kathryn Bolkovac, who served as a peacekeeper in postwar Bosnia and outed the United Nations for covering up a sex scandal involving human trafficking. Bellucci plays the head of an NGO and represents the bureaucracy that Bolkovac was up against. Her heftiness here was appropriate.

''She's horrible, really horrible, the worst of the worst!'' Bellucci bursts into Italian. ''When I am pregnant I am bad and when I give birth I am good!''

She is keener to talk about her love scenes with Robert De Niro in The Ages of Love, which screens as part of the Italian Film Festival.

''Actually, it was incredible because De Niro is so Italian in this movie,'' she says. ''He is an amazing actor, as everybody knows, but he is also an amazing person, so humble and so nice. All the women were in love with him. He is in great shape, I have to say! The film is very romantic and very Italian and is bit like a De Sica comedy from the '60s.''

Unlike many movie stars, Bellucci is happily married. He relationship with Cassel started when she met him on the French hit The Apartment, which garnered her a nomination for a French Cesar. Married for 11 years, they have since made seven more movies together, including the controversial Irreversible, in which they made passionate love (before she left the house to be raped in a subway) and they will soon make an English-language romance in Brazil. Cassel is prominent now in English-language movies and generally plays edgier characters. ''Vincent is more nervous; I am not nervous,'' Bellucci says. ''I am very down to earth. But thank god, because I think the problem is that when you do movies and magazine covers you get mixed with your image and sometimes people go crazy because there is no distance any more between the person and the image.''

Belluci, however, is unconcerned about what her children might think of her movies. ''If you are scared about what people think or what you represent or what your image can be, then you are not free any more in your choices. That can be dangerous for your art. I think it is important to feel free in your passion. I am a woman, I am a mother but when you are an actor, you have to still be wild.''

Monica Bellucci admits there is "no rationality" for her when it comes to relationships.

The 46-year-old Italian actress is married to French actor Vincent Cassel, and the pair have two daughters; Deva, who was born in 2004, and Leonie, who entered the world last year.

As a happily married woman Bellucci finds it tough to offer love advice, as for her there are no specific rules to follow.

"I am carried by the moment and instinct. No rationality, only emotions. You love or you don't," she explained to French publication Paris Match.

"You don't decide sitting around a table: OK, so I have two kids, 16 years of life as a couple, that would be nice if it lasts, but how I am going to make it work?"I don't think at all that a couple is something 'you work out', as we say.

"Me, I decide, day after day. It could be possible, that, suddenly, our relationship doesn't make any more sense, that he or I could need something else. But right now, it works."

Bellucci also expressed how thrilled she was to welcome Leonie into the world last year. The star initially thought one child would be enough, although was over the moon to have another tot.

"I didn't believe I would have another child. I was so fulfilled with Deva! I wanted to enjoy each moment with her. And then, really smoothly, the idea of a new pregnancy was set," she smiled.

"I had breastfed Deva for nine months. But Leonie, I couldn't stop. She didn't want me to. So it lasted for a year and it's only been a couple of months that she has weaned."

I keep saying that Monica Bellucci looks like she isn’t aging, but these photos for Paris Match magazine have me wondering what’s really going on here. Is it just me or does every photo shoot Monica does these days look pretty much the same? (You can compare and contrast by clicking those links if you want.) It seems like Monica did a ton of photos at some point in the past and they just keep re-using them every time there’s a story on her. Either that or she really isn’t aging. And why are there still stories on her? Is she even acting anymore? Quick check of Wikipedia says she is, but it looks like it’s mostly stuff over in Italy, so I guess that’s why she’s still making the rounds. Monica Bellucci as Malèna

In Malèna (2000, directed by Giuseppe Tornatore), set during WW2 in a rural Italian town, Monica Bellucci plays an impossible vision of beauty; a woman so striking she is immediately sexualised by all who lay eyes on her. Malèna’s reaction to the leering male gaze and subsequent scorn of jealous women is expressed through her hair, make-up and clothing.

Our introduction to the character occurs with Malèna wearing a just-below-the-knee white dress, lightly padded shoulders, deep neckline incorporating dotted bow detail (this fabric is later reused for another outfit – she is a seamstress) to match black and white edging on the revers. Its tubular fit is reminiscent of the form-fitting 1930s; Bellucci’s figure is emphasised within the story world, aligning our viewpoint with young protagonist Renato (Giuseppe Sulfaro) and not his leering friends. Renato sees Malèna as the perfect – the only – embodiment of woman. To cope with his infatuation, Renato fanaticises that he rescues and occasionally disciplines Malèna, yet knows this is impossible in real life until he comes of age.

The idea of expedited maturity is communicated via costume. Renato is so frantic to be perceived as a man away from short pants; a garment that evidently signifies childishness, that he sneaks his father’s best lounge suit to a tailor’s to have the trouser legs shortened. The change never occurs because his father discovers the misdeed then literally beats his son for daring to be so bold. Eventually Renato is fitted for a two piece suit, though it is his mother who supervises the tailor.

Malèna’s first transition is consequence of a vital plot point; she evolves from primarily black and white colour palette with some florals, and in Renato’s daydream a revealing pink lace trim nightgown, to pure black on realisation that her soldier husband had died while serving in Africa. Crucially Malèna remains in mourning, often with her head completely covered by a black chiffon scarf, until her second transition to prostitute for the occupying German army. Yet the black on black seems to draw even more attention to her apparent sexual availability.

Condemned as aloof and unfeeling by women and desperate to sexualise by men, Malèna is forced into submission; she becomes their lie. Even in court for indiscretions not yet undertaken, it is her angular silhouette of wide, padded shouldered crepe dress that lingers. Tornatore wants us to judge Malèna as they do; calculating and cold. Our viewpoint has been temporarily realigned. Even Renato struggles to keep faith.

Notably, Malèna is often shown to be wearing high heel slingback shoes. Colour and style vary, but that distinctive “click clack” sound remains. Aural warning of the temptress, it is almost as though Malèna marches through town like a Wild West gunslinger; she certainly evokes the same revulsion as one. Men have to dominate for fear of veiling their masculinity, while women must destroy what they perceive as a threat to their marriage.

Observe as Malèna steps from building to building trying to find respectable employment, camera peering up from her shoes to stocking seam to long dark hair blowing in the wind. Even with Renato as her would-be protector/voyeur, everywhere she goes Malèna is either ogled as a sex object or derided. For that town she was more deadly than the War.

When Malèna finally succumbs to bullying, partly due to poverty, partly by compulsion, she makes a third costume transition, which is perhaps the most important in narrative terms because although it only confirms what the townsfolk believe they already know, for Renato it forces him to grow up. Chopping her hair into a bob and dying it copper red, Monica Bellucci essentially portrays another character. With costume designer Maurizio Millenotti revealing her décolletage for the first time since the opening scene (unusually, with a zip fasten on the rear of her dress), Bellucci interprets Malèna as obviously terrified, yet as a rush of eager hands jut forward to light her cigarette, suddenly aware of her power too.

Her shocking red hair soon becomes Jean Harlow blonde. However, by this stage Malèna is too brazen. Despite her promiscuity, which is just what the local men thought they wanted, she has never looked less attractive. Now Malèna is a whore; conspicuous sexuality has overtaken mystique. When American troops arrive to liberate the town, she is brutally punished by an frenzied posse of wives for her collusion with the enemy.

In actual fact she is punished for simply daring to be. Malèna’s beauty did not enrage them; rather that she refused to deny it, so they took it away from her. Clean white dress ripped to expose her breasts, hair shorn and scalp bleeding; Malèna is hounded as a whipped dog. She flees on the next train out of town, veiled in black to hide her wounds.

After Malèna’s husband Nino (Gaetano Aronica) returns from Africa, evidently not dead but recovering from Malaria with a missing arm, he is treated almost as badly as she was, just for being married to her. Initially there is some measure of sympathy, but this soon gives way to name calling and even physical abuse. Thanks to Renato’s help, however, Nino does learn where Malèna has fled and a year later the couple return – together.

This is Malèna’s final transition, when she is at last accepted by the townsfolk. Not out of respect for her courage, but because in a brown striped utility suit, barely nipped in to hide her figure and low court shoes, she is no longer a threat. In essence, they won. They killed Malèna and she was reborn in their design; plain and anonymous.

MONICA BELLUCCI. [Laughs] I also like to know. If I had the secret would be great, but no one has rules. Lasparejas are guided by the desire to be together, not knowing how long it will last. So forget the star and we discover the human being, because he gave himself with great simplicity and great generosity in every scene.

MH. His role in this film is a small change compared to other roles he has played. It is a romantic comedy, kindest, sweetest.

I wanted to do this role and working with Giovanni Veronesi, who joins me great affection and a great friendship. My character, Viola is a woman of 40 who is in a stage that takes stock of what has been his life, and not at all happy with the result that balance. He does not like his work, is disappointed with the men who had in his life, has no partner, no children. Not happy, and the encounter with the character who plays De Niro's going to disrupt your life, and the same will happen to him, an American University professor has been installed in Italy after retiring. He thinks he will not live the love that will not happen and nothing exceptional, and just then life shows you until the end, everything can change suddenly.

MH. You have incarnated throughout his film career, to women for whom beauty and the relationship with your body are an essential part of his personality. Does beauty has been a burden to you at some point? I guess it's not always easy to be considered "the most beautiful woman in the world" ...

I do not like to talk about beauty as something negative, I think that's going against nature, not be kind, grateful to her. I think when you have health and beauty, has no right to mistreat them. Moreover, physical beauty and health pass. And beauty comes from the experiences one has had, as he has lived. But it is true that in my work, beauty is sometimes a kind of mask that makes you feel imprisoned. And I think that with age, one can interpret characters are more interesting.

MH personally .- And how you deal with getting older, over time?

At the moment very well [laughs]. For my work, as I said, it is very interesting, and in my life at the moment, I do well over the years that I met. MH. In your case, how was that way, the journey between the model and actress?
I believe very much in love, in love for the profession that gives you the strength to pass all the tests that are emerging, because it makes you feel alive. I love my job very much, and I've been doing elections have always been dictated by the passion of the moment.

MH. And how does a family life with two girls so small and conjugated with a career that is very bohemian, very unstable?

It is the story of an Iranian woman, 30 years of his life before and after the revolution, is a lovely character. One of the things that interest me most is working with directors and actors from different cultures.

I have wanted to see both films have been, to see where I'm going to continue my career. And I have wanted to see how the audience reacts
and criticism. These two films are a step in my career, a personal evolution.

MH What would you say to critics who believe that you give a
sexy image too conventional?

It is impossible to please everyone and I think, especially when you choose your movies, you must be fi on himself. Players must respect what they feel, what they have inside, travel and personal evolution. Indeed, there are people
you do not like what you do, even people who hate it.

But let's face it. The important thing is the self-fi is all that matters, follow the path of their own. It is not going anywhere if you are carried away by what others think.
